My car came with a Z3 fixed antenna and I get no AM reception on the radio.

I recently got a chance to peek at the antenna and is there a special connection required for Am reception as there is a connector at the base of the antenna that doesn't have anything connected to it.

Or am I looking at the wrong spot to fix this problem?

You need the antenna amp that goes with it. Common failure in the Z4's for those amps to go bad.

Me being the n00b here... what is the antenna amp?

If that is missing then what exactly do I have in the car? It picks up FM radio OK.

If you have an aftermarket headunit, another reason for no AM reception is that the antenna amplifier is not getting 12volts when the ignition is on. Check the wiring at the headunit.
