Climate Control keeps shutting off in my 1997 M3

Almost everytime I drive my car, my climate control screen loses power. The air stops going into the cockpit at this time. It will usually turn back on after a minute or less of being off but it might turn on and off 10 times before it stays on. I am thinking it's a power issue pertaining to the whole centre unit because once in a while, the lights behind the cd player won't turn on when the night running light are on, and the cd/radio player tuning screen will go really dim, but usually at different times. Also, when the climate control shuts off, the car feels like it slows down a little bit. Something definately changes when it goes off. Anybody have any suggestions on what to look at first? I know it's not a big issue but it is annoying to not have air for periods of time. Thanks guys!

I've heard that the in dash module that controls the climate control can become defective/die over time. Mine is still working and I hope it continues to (fingers crossed). I'm not sure what the life expectancy is for these things but after 12 years I can't imagine it would be much longer. You might even pull it out of the dash and ensure that all the connections are still solid. Keep me posted on how it turns out.
