E28 M5 fuel consumption

Well it looks like the M5 is consuming way too much fuel, less than 300 km for $56 worth of 94 at Chevron last fill. Al at Classic mentioned the temp sensor and O2 sensor might be the culprit. Have a look at the link below from Real OEM. I am thinking the temp sensor is #11 but there are two others, # 13 and #9.

Oxygen sensor, #9 on the link below is a pricey item, anyone know of a good place to buy them? Maybe I will try BMA in California since our dollar is so strong now.

Sorry I missed the meet yesterday, busy packing for our move next week.

Hey Mark,

The sensor is number 11. They're under $40 from me, and usually in stock. I will also price the 02 sensor for you on Tuesday.

Ok sounds good. I also have an exhaust leak at the junction where the header meets the downpipe, need a new donut thingy. No money to do the sub frame mounts yet, as you know once the exhaust is down it will need replacing so.... that stuff will have to wait...

Exhaust is around a 1000 bones for stock centre and rear unit, I have the sub frame mounts so labour is what... 4.5 hours for the mounts?? I will try to collect the pitman arm thingys and related rear suspension stuff for when I can afford that phase of work.

For now, temp sensor and O2 sensor, donut replaced in the exhaust. How about July 21st for the above work??

July 21 sounds like a plan to me. Drop me a PM to confirm if you want. I'll price the 02 sensor, as well as the donut, but they may end up being US sourced items anyway. Not sure yet.
