| Senior Member | Brake components for the M5 Well due to the terrible brake bias of the M5 (73%front-27%rear) I will swapping the brakes to E32 components. The front of these cars seem to do the majority of the braking, causing quick wear/warpage to the frt components..and frankly, I am tired of it. Preliminary swap: Balo E32 vented front rotors Balo E32 vented rear rotors E32 rebuilt calipers E32 750il m/cyl stainless lines Not sure about pad choice yet. If I can afford it I would like E34 M5 stuff but its pricey. With the E34 M5 components, brake bias would be 66% frt-34%rear. Car would actually stop level. The E32 offer vented rears which the M5 does not have as well as larger components. Still reading up before final decision is made, your comments on stopping my 2 ton monster much appreciated. Also, does anyone know what Nugeon brand components are?

| Banned | Looks like a good choice, but just a couple notes. Don't be hung up on Balo rotors. There is some weird internet myth that they are better than some other brands, but it's nonsense. Sebro, TRW, Jurid, ATE, Brembo, and Balo are all on a pretty level field. The rear discs you need are E34, not E32. 94 540i, to be precise. I had that exact same setup on my 533i, using Sebro rotors, Pagid pads, and stock rubber lines. The brakes on that car were SCARY! Scary in a good way, of course. It would actually lock up my 245/45/16 Falken 451's at 100km/h! You could wail on the brake pedal time and time again, no fade, no smell, just a solid pedal and serious braking power. Friend of mine bought that car, and he still hasn't had to any brake work, despite driving it just as hard as I did. Kirin and Kevin can attest to the brake power of that car. Al |
