| Member | e30 m3 interior electrics HELP! hi, just wondering if anyone has come across this. almost all of the interior electrics for my e30 m3 are dead. the only things that still work are the speedo, dash lights, the obc and the check thing above the mirror. the things that dont work are central locking/gascap lock, power mirrors, power windows, fan blower, sunroof, tach, oil, fuel gauge, water temp, deck, cig lighter. it was all working fine and then they all went at once. the car starts, runs and drives fine though. any ideas? i checked fuses and none of them are burnt. |

fastbmw's pictures | Sounds like a relay problem. I don't have my bentley handy. I'll look it up tomorrow. |

fastbmw's pictures | After trying to decipher the bentley, it doesn't seem to be one common thing for all your electrical problems. Maybe you have a short in the fuse box that caused many of the fuses to blow. (sometimes it's hard to see if they are blown or not). Try replacing these fuses with brand new ones: Fuse 17, 19, 20, 27 & 30. Things you can also check; try wiggling the wiring harness as it comes out of the fuse box, I've heard of these failing and it's a real POS to fix. The one theory (though this is just a theory) is that you may have had a partial failure of one side of the fuse box. (all your electrical problems are on that one side of the fuse box). That side of the fuse box will not affect driveability but all other functions. Another thing that could be your problem is the main ground connection for the instrument panel. It is below the steering column, Check to see if it has worked itself loose. I would suggest maybe removing the bolt, cleaning the ground point with a bit of sandpaper and trying that. Hope some of this helps, keep me updated. Alex |
