New Member Lithium with a 1991 E30 318i M42.

Hey Everyone
I am pleazed to be member 777 - I just bought a 1991 E30 318i (M42) and I love it. The car is in great condition and pretty much stock. It is in need of a FUN transformation and I am planning on slowly improving it and hopefully still making it to work and home in the meantime.
Last summer I completed a VCMC Aurocross course. What a blast!! (Too bad I had to use my wife's car / 2004 Sentra Spec-V) I learned a bunch about cars and got really excited. When I get the suspension sorted out on my Bimmer I plan on going back for some real RWD fun.
I hope to meet some new Bimmer Buddies here and learn what I need to do to turn my mild car into a WILD car...
My name is Tim.
PM me anytime ChrZ!

You are totally right. It's a pretty quick shopping kart though. But I'd rather have oversteer than understeer any time.
I am glad to be here.

Hey Tim, you have good taste in cars. The E30 318i is a great little car. Mines got a suspension upgrade and a few other things, but no engine upgrades. Thinking about new antiroll bars to improve dynamics on the track. And a new clutch is in order on mine too.

Cool

Thanks Ron - I am really happy with me Dirty-E30 >>> I am following in your footsteps. Getting ready to do the suspension myself. Hopefully I can get out on the track again soon. (Then I will probably want sway bars too...)
CurZ!!! Tim.

what suspension are you looking at getting? I have heard good things about the bilstein shock/H&R sport/race spring combo. If you have more money to spend, definately look at coilovers, they are the best option.

Tomorrow I am going to install the coilover kit (Thanks Tyson) and some beefy adjustable sway bars (Thanks Tim). Bummer though - The BMW store fumbled my order and I will not have any Control Arm Bushings. But I will have to get up a little earlier and turn up a set from Delrin. (Like the Turner Motorsports ones) I expect a harsh ride and they will likley wear out super quick. But I gotta get that stuff in there - I am sick af my car driving like a couch.
Thanks to Kevin for the hook up on the Strut thousings. I'll post a pik of the new stance once I sort it out.
ChrZ!

Front end is done!!!
So far the stance is me crooked over with a sore back.
I lowered the front about 1.3 inches. Back is still stock & worn out.
Handling improvement is massive. New Control arms & a monster sway bar really make the car turn in nice. I also added a lot of Castor & some Camber too, Much better at speed.
I can't wait to get the rear done and level out the car. I'll add some photos tomorow if I can figure out how.
ChrZ!
