I'm new here. Restoring 1986 BMW 325

My son and I are restoring our 1986 BMW 325. We bought it new while stationed in Germany, and brought it home in '86. My wife drove it for years, and just loved it. It has been sitting - covered - in our driveway - un-driven for 6 years now. My son wants it and we will need frequent advice trying to get her back in shape.

Today we replaced all fluids and put in a new battery - she started right up! Were we ever surprised - and pleased as punch!

We joined the forum hoping that some kind soul would be able to tell us how to get the gas door open. The doors and trunk are unlocking and locking just fine, but alas, the gas tank door was stuck shut. My son finagled it, and finally got it opened so that we could add some gas. So I thought that I'd just introduce ourselves instead. But I'm sure y'all'll be hearing from us again real soon now.

Cheers from Southern Maryland,

Bob & Robby

Hi Bob and Robby,

Let me be the first to welcome you to the site and say good luck with your 325. I think you will find everyone here to be quite friendly and very helpful.

When you get a chance, put some photos of the car on the site and tell us more about it. If you have any questions about the site, please send me a pm.

Dave

You can get at the gas door lock actuator through the trunk, behind the trim panels.

thanks, DS. Got it! Does this require any maintenance? I.e., lube or grease?

Cheers, und Einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr! !

Its probably dead. Search online for the ETC for your year car and test it. Its pretty simple actually. Its probably siezed. Its part of your central locking mechanism and is an electric actuator just like your doors.

Question Password?

I downloaded the Electronic Manual from the link you provided. When I double click on the .pdf file, I am prompted for a password. It looks like - no password - no read . . .

Tschuss!
