Muffler for 1992 325i

The muffler on my car is toast!
It sounds really bad ass and I totally passed Air Care, but...

About a month ago, I had taken the car to a small muffler/brake shop on Kingsway to get some snow tires installed. Muffler dude had my car up on the hoist and was telling me that I need a special order $600 BMW muffler and that it will be about an $800 job.
WTF (???) I do hope that he was pulling my leg.

Do I take it to another muffler shop? to my mechanic?
Does any one have a used muffler in good condition??

Hey Photo Girl,

There where some used ones around here for a while, But not sure if they still are...... Ryan is selling parts, We are hoping to see him soon. As well Greg, and I think Twinpac. They all have parts of a 325.

You might also consider buying a new one from Pelican. They have some OEM mufflers for 240 bones

Good luck

E30 Mufflers are around $400 from the dealer.

I suggest you check it out. Pretty good price considering shipping.

Installation is really easy.

They probably did more than just the muffler then.

Hangers, donuts etc... maybe it was rusted on ahah.

This is what I'm not so sure about -
The dude at the muffler shop was telling me that the muffler has to be replaced, but it was a huge job because of the twin exhaust pipes (?) were all attached and everything had to be replaced. Do that sound right to anyone?

Thanks for the info everyone!

I contacted M635 last week and got a used muffler from the car that he was parting out.

I am going to get it installed soon, but should I be worried about these rusty bits?

I was told it was in 'decent' condition and the muffler itself is certainly not all holey like my current one is.

Have a look - Should I be worried about this ?

No, I don't think that is worth putting on the car.

Greg is a nice guy, give him a call, I am sure he will do the right thing.

Muffer from that 89 won't fit on an 92 325i, (unless it's a vert e30 92)
