same owner is selling this one as well, I think they're both American spec cars, he imported them intending to make money, but now that economy isn't as hot as it was a year ago looks like the guy is stuck with them.

went to see this one. its in horrible condition.
interior is front half 01 m5 and rear is 00 or from a non m
door sills are 540
does not have the big screen nav for the 01
rear armrest is broken or not installed correctly
door and window sealing rubber is not put in correctly
it has chrome exterior window trims that are loose, real M ones are black (shawdow line)
it has a big dent on the left rear quarter panel that i know will cost more than what he quoted me to fix
left front fender is repainted
vanos is super loud marbles in a can
tool kit is empty
front left tire is different than the rest
headlight housing is broken (bulbs not secured)
check engine light is on
missing some factory stereo equipment possibly stock 6 disc changer or something.
missing some trims, peices and misc parts
car is not clean inside or out
suspension could use some work
i found a us wholesale auction plate frame tucked under some garbage in the trunk. saids a lot about where it might be from.

to me, it felt like a theft recovery or a track car that went back to stock type of deal. it felt like a lot of things were removed at one point and someone just found whatever 5 series parts they could gather to put back in to make it look sort of complete. but other than that, the car drives, feels and sounds ok.

oh btw. confirmed us car. its reg in canada though. but he drove the car out with us plates. if i remember correctly cali plates

M5

Hey I went and saw this car too, I had it inspected by BMW and the door sills are 540 sills on the front and the mirrors are square along with the smaller M5 nav screen, but as for the rest I don't know where to start, I read this post prior to seeing the car and quite a few things toyotahacheriku posted are false. I don't know why he would do that but anyways. The door rubbers were fine, the drivers side had a small rip up the seam but those are replaceable, the chrome on the outside is completely preference and does look like it was put on after the fact but it most definitly wasn't loose. It has a pretty substanitial ding on the left rear quarter panel but also no where near as severe as and I quote "a big dent". The front quarter panel I am unsure of, that is something that may have to go to a body shop to be checked out. The vanos runs beautifully, I dont think our friend here has had an M5 but it most definitly does not sound like marbles in a can, it has a healthy exaust and running idle. Car sounds great. The tool kit in the back is empty and the front tire is a different tire, its a marshall so that is a negitive, the 6 cd changer was there along with all the sereo equipment premium M sound with the sub. Also there was no check engine light, that is completely false. The suspension was great, bmw said all that is in good condition, they also told me the car is all in all in good condition and to bring it up to perfect condition would be just over 2k for a few seals and a new clutch (not a huge priority though). I'm going to be putting an offer in on this car in the next day or so and I just thought I'd strike out these false statements. I think maybe our toyota friend should stick to toyotas. They're alot easier to make assumptions on.

M5

I don't think 26000 is too good to be true, its just a good deal. regardless I trust bmw and if they justify mechanics over theory then I'm happy. They did the vanos on the car and said the inside had no build up it was ridiculously clean, sooo... I'm going to make my offer. I'll change the mirrors and front door sills, get bmw to tune it up, should be good. My old M5 was 2000 and when I sold it, it had 190k kms so this one is a fresh start. thanks

Interesting how 2 hours after I sent the link for this thread to the owner, who's now looking for low ball offers (couldn't resist), this thread is resurected to speak of how good the car is. I googled the phone number from the add, thats how i found this post in the first place.

Good luck Stu.
