I just bought the same car basically with 97K on it. Eurospec out of japan etc. Paint was not perfect, needs a good polish, and some touch ups. a couple of small dents.

I paid much less, but it needed a bit of work and now the tranny is going.

Usually autos go for much less than 5 speeds in the ix. And the good 5 speeds that I've seen are selling for about 6-7K, especially if they are a 4 door in good shape (quite rare).

If this care is in really good shape, it will make a reallly nice 5 speed candidate.

So it may be a bit high.

Just my 2 cents.

Suggestion: lower price...You've got some competition:

We just picked up an 89, 4 door, 5 speed a few weeks ago for $5800. It has 155K KM's, full service records, and is very clean. Its not perfect, it has a few dings, is missing the center caps and needs a new driver's side ball joint.
Yours is an 88 Euro spec so it has a few extras but like everyone else has said the auto is whats going to kill it. Most people shopping for an E30, especially the IX, are enthusiasts and are going to want a 5 speed. I think 6-7K would be fair. Its a really nice car, you may just have to wait for the right buyer.

Mr. Red's pictures

I would list it closer to 6k, i'm sure you'd get a few bites closer to there.

Nice, sounds like a good deal.

I paid 5200 for my auto with 97K. Needed minor things. has after market 16" wheels, not the original ix wheels, which i want, and I did an overhaul on the cooling system, timing belt, ignition system. Still fixing some minor things, and now the tranny is dying.

I would have much rather bought a 5 speed, but mine is eurospec and all those little things are worth the extra pain i'm going through.

Thanks for the feedback - new price

This car has 1/2 the kms of nearly all of those other cars you have listed Nick - but I do appreciate your efforts of pointing out the competition. The first one listed would be a pretty close comparison, albeit 2x the kms. Ours has not yet turned 100K. I do appreciate the 5spd comments too, but not everyone wants a 5 spd (flame away), like my wife.

Regardless, thanks again for the quality feedback.

NEW PRICE $7500.00 obo, going on CL today.

The block is actually exactly the same casting, it has just been machined differently. The engine mounts are a larger thread, there are 2 different oil pan holes and the dip stick is at the other end. The oil pump also turns the other way. Any engine can be used as long as you change those things.

Well.............I bought a j-spec 320i 4 door auto, pwr windows, no sun roof and comfort cloth seats with 70k/km on it 3 years ago for $6000. Now yours is older, has 25k more km's on it but it is a "x" model with more options.....so you be the judge, did I pay too much or are you asking too much? The market is quite different now.

Hi All - The car is still for sale!! I cannot believe it! Mind you I'm not in the LM and have not pushed the sales pitch much. First person who hops the plane and sees / drives the car will know it is a good score.

$5000.00

Funny though - just in the last few days a bunch of interest...

Cheers,
John

btw - patrick is that a 325ixT in your avatar???? V

I would knock the fact it's japanese against it to be honest. Japanese cars have weird options and stuff on them sometime.

Having said that I like it a lot, too bad it's not a 5 speed. Or a wagon.

Yes, yes it is.

Why not convert it to manual then sell it... I'd be up for it if you want a hand.
