Hello Alain,

I envy you with your new car, and welcome to the site.

If I were you, I would disassemble the original motor to see if it can be rebuilt. It will cost some money but in the end the overall job could be easier. You won't have to change motor mounts, worry about the wiring or fitting the transmission to a new block.

Of course this is all just my opinion, especially because you want to keep the car as original as possible.

The 735i motor is a 3.5l M30 B35 engine. It should fit into your classic, but obviously there will be modifications to make it fit. But honestly, I've never heard that you can make an injected engine into a carb? Could that really happen?

If you swapped the heads you could which is what Alain want to do I believe. Which raises the question: are the heads interchangeable from these two motors?

I believe both of them use M30's.

They engine should literally bolt right in. The bavaria's and 2800's, and 3.0 csl's all used M30's. I would suggest keeping the 735i's fuel injection system, simply for ease of use, but to keep it old school you can twin carburate it.

There is a 2800 here that has the same modification done. The trannies, should also bolt up.

There is a Bavaria here at one of the wreckers with the Solex big dual carb set up. I don't know if you need the head, but the intake, carbs, fuel pump, and fuel pump relay should all be available. I'll have a look in the next couple days to see if it is still available.

These guys might be able to help too: http://i-vol.com/bmwbavaria/index4.htm
