Do timing belts start to squeel like alternator belts do?

Hi All,

I just replaced my alt belt and there is still a squeeling coming from the front of the engine. I have no PS or AC belts on the car.

Is this the sound of iminent explosion? I have a new t-belt/tensioner but was planing on driving to the coast on Firday with it (perhalps I'll be changing my t-belt tomorrow)

Craig,

Hi,

Maybe the water pump. It's a beater car and each time I quiet one thing down I can hear something else scary. The squeel has been getting more noticeable but it may just be that I can hear it more now that I've quieted some rattles.

I'll do the t-belt, water pump, etc next week and see if that's it.

Craig,
