| Member | e30 325e engine mods hey everyone, A friend and i just picked up a 325e and a 323i (good for scrap) with plans to make the 325e into a hillclimb/tarmac rally car. we are going to use the 2.7 ltr botom end and place the head, cam and ecu etc from the 323 onto it, and with a bit of luck will have an engine that has good low down torque but that will rev nicely well past the 325e rev limiter of 4500(ish). Just wondering if anyone has done this modification before and could give us any useful hints or tips? any info would be appreciated. Cheers JH |

| Senior Member | http://www.strictlyeta.net/technical/328i_1.html 1.) What is the E to I Conversion? It's the concept of making a hybrid high horsepower, high torque motor with a flat powerband using the top half of a 325i and the bottom block of a 325e. The idea is to obtain the high end power of a 325i and the low end grunt of a 325e using mostly factory parts.

| Member | thanks for the info. i had read in a few places that the early eta engines were compaible with the 323 motor and the later 'super eta' engines matched up with the 3235 motor. can anyone varify that? that link only mentions the 325 engine. also, what would be a good diff ratio to use for hillclimbs?? cheers JH |
