| Senior Member | Urethane trans mounts - increased cabin noise? Hi All, I just adjusted the valves on my 325i, and put on urethane transmission mount bushings. At first I though I had adjusted the valves poorly, as when I reved the engine the noise in the cabin was much louder and of a different sound. I don't think it was the valve adjustment as only one really needed to be adjusted (worn eccentric, that I'll replace in a week or two.) but the amount of noise being transmitted through the drive train through the uretane bushings is crazy. I have no carpet, or sound deadning in the car (its pretty loud already) but the urethane (engine bushings went in in last summer) and trans mounts seem to have increased the noise a lot. Has anyone else experienced this? Craig,

No sorry, but I guess it would stand to reason, I assume that the bushings were as hard as a rock! So I guess that would transfer more vibration to the frame, then say a stock rubber mount. But let me ask you this, Do they make a harder motor mount as well ? Would using a harder motor mount with them help ? ![]() |

| Senior Member | Hi, I've got the IE urethane engine/motor mounts as well but they didn't seem to change the noise level. The new ones in the tranny FEEL stiffer. And I didn't think I'd feel anything, but again I have no sound proofing or carpet so things get a pretty rattley. I'm guessing when I put the urethane sub frame and trailing arm bushings in the car is going to be intollerable. Craig,

kowalski's pictures | check your engine mounts, since you put urethane transmission mounts in they're going to be the ones taking the brunt of the force now.... engine mounts are rubber, tranny urethane... engine and tranny are bolted together. Know what I mean? I've had all urethane suspension components for the better part of 4 years, on a daily driver. I have no complaints, and I wouldn't have it any other way, except I do have to say this Stay away from IE products, stick to AKG for urethane products. |

| Senior Member | Bummer, that's where I bought all of my urethane. IE, Engine mounts, transmission mounts, trailing arm and rear subfrmae bushings. What's your problem with their products? Poor fit? Poor Quality? Did you experience a lot of ressonance (Increased engine and drive tran noise) when you upgraded from stock/rubber? Craig,

My IE bushings lasted about 30,000 km's before they were all shot, and by shot, I mean they were SHOT, like unsafe to drive shot. Fitment on their subframe bushings was horrible, I don't know if they fixed it now though... AKG is a FAR superior product, and their prices are almost identical. I'm trying to deal with Jeff about these problems i experienced and he's being extremely uncooperative and I doubt he's going to do anything at all as far as compensation. Most IE stuff is made in china now | |

kowalski's pictures | on a happier note, I just picked up a full GC coilover settup with 550 front/650 rear spring rates, and a medium case 4.10 LSD so i can swap out my small case, so i don't blow it up... |

| Senior Member | I run urethane tranny mounts, engine mounts, real trailer arm bushings and strut mounts on my e36 M3. I have all stock insulation but did notice an increase in "feel in the pants" and slight increase in cabin noise when the tranny mounts went in. But it's a much tighter all around feel. The back ends on these things can get loose and upgrading all the bushings made the car feel young again. Along with new springs and shocks I recommend the upgrade to anyone. |
