Any ideas for modified front plate brackets?

Hey does anyone have ideas for modified brackets for front plates?

I was thinking, to use the stock plate, but have bracket that bend the extra top and bottom bit flush with the bumper giving a sleaker profile....??

Bending a license plate is considered alteration / vandalization of provincial property and carries a heftier ticket than having no front plate, if caught.

That side, here is a reasonable masking solution of the ugliness

Hmmm, too bad about the bending thing. Its just that these plates are sooo freaking huge.

Yeah plate surround seems best option. Anyone know of plain black ones?

I was thinking of bolting the BC plate on top of a Euro plate and rock it that way.

I just not 100% convinced that it would look good though.

I picked up some plain black plastic ones from Canadian Tire, 2 in a pack for $8 or something like that. It still looks like crap compared to no front plate, but it helps a little bit. You can kind of see it in this picture.

I cut mine, just over and under the numbers, and threw bolts right through it after taking the plate holder off. curved around the front. 6 months beside/behind cops all over the lower mainland, no probs. If your not obscuring the numbers on the front, no tags on front plate anyways. all they need to see is the numbers.

Back when I was in high school some guy did that and they busted him for defacing private property! Technically the plates belong to ICBC. Sorry to bring that up I'm sure the guy was being an ass so they looked for an offense and used that.

fair enough, im sure its happened, all im relating is my experience. I even returned the plates to icbc, with the nominal plate return fee, they didnt charge with any crimes. The way i see it theyre one time use only and i pay out the ass for these little pieces of tin.

Ok sooo, here are the results.

I took of that huge (albeit form fitting) stock plate mount on the front.

I bought a regaular flat black plate mount and drilled new mounting holes so it fitwhere I wanted...higher than stock but not blocking airflow to the rad or my 'ram air intake' ;-)

I then took a piece of curved and tinted dark plastic and formed it to fit over the flat plate mount and plate, essentailly making an envelope. I then coloured the areas except the numbers with black to match my car and mounted it...see the before and after pics.

Sorry the After pic is so poor, taken with cel phone.

Ron
