your supposed to add it to your coolant system instead of regular water so that the your parts don't fuse together... take for instance your water pump (if you've ever done one).... when they get stuck inside the block, and you have to smash them out, its generally due to using regular tap water. same sort of principle if you've ever had an aluminum wheel get stuck to the rotor of your vehicle when trying to remove.

You can buy it from save on for a few bucks for 4 liters, or you could buy the pre-mixed coolant.

Battery, battery.

Modern batteries are sealed and you should never have to add distilled water. Older style batteries (like 20 years ago) had caps on top and you could add distilled water if the liquid inside was getting low and exposing the poles to air.

I've done it before when I had a faulty voltage regulator and the overcharged battery would pop it top and some liquid would get out, but that was in the early 90s. I don't think you can even buy a battery today with removable caps.

I've done it, just poor it in. There is usually a fill line that you don't want to go over.

applecran's right, if you need to add water, just cover up the metal plates inside the battery.

Thanks guys.

I just grabbed a gallon of water from work for the coolant, had some leftover, and was thinking what else would need distilled water. Maybe the previous owner of my car changed it to a newer battery, so I won't need it, cause I don't see a cap anywhere.

Cheers

you would see one cap per cell, usually under the stickers on the top of the battery.

You can use it to steam clean your motor. Like seafoam.
Just be careful not to hydrolock your engine.
