lsd and snow...

does a lsd help with winter driving? i don't have one and was wondering if it's really worth putting one in and if it helps with traction in snow,...i also find my car jumps around when going over manholes which i was told could be because i don't have a lsd...

Who told you that?

Jumping around on bumps and manholes is probably dead suspension.

my car did that cause the back tires aren't given equal load so one would spin a bit faster when it hits the manhole or w.e
I donno, if it doesn't pull side to side when you're not on the throttle then id say it's suspension

LSD can help bring the fun of driving on snow onto driving on more traction surfaces that's for sure lol...

but if one wheel is stuck on slipery ice and other wheel on better surface, LSD can help u get out better than the open diff

i'll have to try going over one while coasting...hopefully it is the lack of lsd because i was planning on putting one in anyway. if it is the suspension, i guess it would be the struts, right? anyway, does an lsd help with traction in the snow? probably i'd guess....

A limited slip will help a lot in the winter. It will also help for "spirited" driving for the same reason. They are easy to install and cheap to buy. Get one.

Depending on your driving city vs. highway the change in ratio might increase your milage a little.

An LSD will help with traction but a proper set of snow tires is a far better investment. Like 4wd, an LSD will only help you accelerate, it will not help you stop or turn.

Yes, LSD is great for snowy driving. Be sure to have good winter tires, or at least good all season tires, though.

Worn suspension bushings. Even if one tire slips (open diff) you shouldn't have any uncontrolled suspension movement. My rear wheels move around when one tire slips because I still have worn out trailing arm bushings. When the load suddenly changes, the wheel moves around and it shouldn't do that. If the slip is bad enough, it can really feel funny. It was much worse before I put in IE poly subframe bushings.

Nobody ever replaces rear suspension stuff. So yes your e30 is probably due for new suspension bushings and subframe bushings.

ya, my rear subframe bushings don't exist, except for a few scraps of rubber left over..and it turns outi think i have a 3.73 lsd. checked the tag when i checked the bushings and it had the numbers 3.73 118...too lazy to do the triling arm bushings, but i'll do the subframe ones over the weekend...
