Oil fill/Dipstick

Oil fill/Dipstick

it bugs me that the dipstick and the oil fill location are on opposite sides of the engine.

from a techincal standpoint why would bmw make you go from side to side of the car?

so when you have to reach around to the other side to check the level when topping off your oil, you can visually look at your engine to make sure nothings about to catostrophically fail

So that you forget to put the cap on after checking oil level and seeing that its perfect. It happened to me

this is a tip. it doesn't really work on our cars, but on almost every other car (that the hood opens normally), place the oil cap on the latch that the hood pin goes in to (above the radiator). that way you cannot close the hood because the oil cap is blocking it. that way if you forget to replace the oil cap, its an obvious last resort reminder. (i worked at mr.lube)

riley i think its time you reposition the dipstick along with your dual transmissions theroy for an e30. If you cant do it ill be dissapointed.

a two speed rear end for split shifts would be killer.

well it probably has something to do with the exhaust manifolds being on the same side as the oil fill cap, and because the exhaust manifolds are solid they cant run the tube through them ergo they had to put it on the other side... bastards

being on the manifold side it allows me to pour oil onto the manifold if my aim is shitty.

then you have to smell the burning oil and that just not nice.... and i mean it riley you have to redesign the m20 figure it out and dont post till you build one lol
