Motul Oil...where to buy & thoughts?

Hi,

According to the PO, he used Motul 15w-40 engine oil in my e34 B10 3.5. It's getting time for a change, so any ideas where I could buy Motul oil, and any thoughts on the weight and or other brands? I'd like a high quality synthetic for her...

Thanks,
Chris

motul is most commonly used by european cars and motorcycles. check out some cycle shops, they should have it. i know im running motul 10-40 full synthetic. but i get it changed at mr. lube (i used to work there). im pretty sure i've also seen it at canadian tire before. not sure in what weights though

Both of you guys need to be on a 50 weight oil, not a 40. 15w50 is appropriate for the M10, and the M30. We sell, and stock Elf Competition 15w50, and its what I use in my own cars.

And as for Motul, and bike shops....Bikes use a different type of oil than cars, due to the shared sump with the gearbox. Bike shops won't carry the Motul for cars.

I've Found it at the above shop PDM Racing and in Richmond at CG Motorsports, and generally I've found the pricing at CG better than PDM aswell, Thats if you want to go Motul, I use Elf or Motul in the 325is and M3, both with great success.

if you dig into the board a bit you will find a member offering wholesale pricing on Mobil 1 15/50 synthetic. i don't want to mention names etc, but i took him up on it and it was a good price and definitely better oil for my car then 5/50 which I'd been running till that point.

Motul can be also be found at Fairview Automotive around 7th and Heather near Cambie st.

Elf has always been TOTAL, thats the name of the parent company. Why they're now marketing it in NA as TOTAL, I have no idea. The new bottles look shitty, but it's still the same great product.
