| non working speedo So I finally had a weekend without the wife and kids and decided to get my dash working. I replaced the rechageable batteries in my si board. Everything now works as it should but my speedo is still dead and the orange inspection light is still on. While it was apart I gently touched the needle to see if it could move freely and it did. Any ideas? thanks in advance, Tom |

Weeman83's pictures | I had an intermittent problem where the speedo would cut in and out at random. Differential speed sensor was verified as not hte problem. Like ^ said, it would be wise for you to rule that out first. I finally fixed the problem by reflowing all the solder connections at the rear of the speedo. This is a common problem on E30s as the solder board phenolic material became brittle over the years and lost contact with the solder blobs. Easier done than it sounds. Let me know if you need help with that! Good luck! |

Jono-vision's pictures | Don't know but have you checked the gears in the speedo? I know my E28 has gears, plastic gears that have sheared off, old and brittle. |
