Weeman83's pictures | Whine from the rear end G'day M42 318is. Got a whine from the rear end, seemingly from the right wheel well. Suspected wheel bearing but it does not change pitch while turning. Suspected worn ring/pinion, but it does not change pitch with accceleration or throttle lift-off either. Definitely increases with road speed though. What other items do i need to consider? Input pinion bearing? Output shaft bearings? I do have worn rear brakes that i need to address, but I don't think the whine is relevant to that. Cheerio! LC |

Jason's pictures | On my previous E30, I had a whining rear end that didn't change pitch during turns either, but it nonetheless was the wheel bearing. For some reason the right rear bearing always goes first so it could very well be just that simple.
