Hey just rust proofed my 540i

Hey Guys so i took my 540i to the mechanic today and got the rust proof done, never done it before but i got some good advice from a buddy on here. While i was there i had all three air filters replaced, along with brake pads, and winter tires. If you have'nt done it to your car yet you really should look into having it done, the winter is really harsh on the car. The downside is the car was a mess when they were done but nothing a little wash wont take care of.

So what was done exactly for the rust proofing? Undercoating or were all the hollow body cavaties treated as well? Zebart was a trade name used around here but I don't know if they're still around or not.

All the hollow body cavaties were treated wheels, muffler, the entire underneath was almost dripping when they were done.

Just curious but what kind of rust proofing did they use?

Was it a paint/rust eliminator, wax or oil...or that terrible tar like substance that sometimes pops up?

Thanks man. I just wish the original owner cared for his car like you do, and rust proofed it when it was new. The rust isn't really that bad though, mostly just surface.

What type of oil undercoating was used? Is it a commercial brand anyone can buy and apply themselves?

Hey Phantom im not 100% sure the name of it or even if you can do it yourself, my mechanic did it for me and i requested an oil instead of the wax undercoating. I heard walmart does the undercoating, i can find out more and get back to you.

Yeah I would appreciate that. Good choice going with an oil base. I'm not a big fan of wax undercoatings myself.
