What is the piece that goes under the steering column?

I'm trying to find a replacement since mine is cracked and I have no idea what it is called to find a part number.

TIA for any help/info

Be advised, on airbagged cars, this is a knee bolster which is padded and distinctly thicker. Don't get the wrong one!

uhhh, "underdash pedal box cover"?? thats my best guess, I'd use that in conjunction with the part number from realoem. I need one too thats why I know... I'm thinking of biting the bullet and getting it new.

Yeah seems like lots of e30's need these. They are hard to find used in good shape.

As weeman said they are different on the airbag cars - made of 2 parts and much more heavy duty.

I can't seem to remember what they are called!

I have the non airbag one and it seems there is a little speaker thing attached to it.

Guess that is where it makes that 'bong' sound from the OBC

Supposedly you can modify the airbag one to fit the non airbag cars.

i'll add that i have one from a parts car that you can check out. i won't be intown for the weekend but its in good shape from what i can remember.
