I'm really happy with this product, quality is good and light output at night is awesome. Very much recommend them.

Has anyone tried the smaller DDM kit or did everyone buy the Apexcone kit?

Should I get a 35W or 55W setup? I was thinking the 35W would be more than bright enough or do I have have to match up the power draw? Like if the fogs are 55W H3 do I need a 55W kit?

I'm looking at picking up two sets for mains and fogs so any feedback is appreciated.

I picked up the 55w for the low beams and a 35w set for the fog lights. I haven't tried out the fogs but you definitely want the 55w set for your low beams.

Thanks for the advice.

I was thinking of getting the 55W for the mains and 35W for the fogs.

Now I am trying to figure out of the slim DDM units are any better than the larger Apexcone ballasts.

naw I dont think so, the normal ballasts have the igniter and ballast contained within the same casing, the slim kit has an external igniter and therefore requires additional mounting. Oh and its more expensive.

Never even noticed that the slim DDM ballasts had an external igniter until I took a close look at the pictures.

Guess I'll pick up the Aprexcone setups now.

MikesJo's pictures

I'm running the 35w 5k apexcone kit but I'm using my older prolumen ballasts. The 5k from apexcone wasn't as blue as the 5k I had with my prolumen. They also shipped me the smaller ballasts when I had ordered the normal ones.

i'll have to pick up a set. My passenger side has gone kaput. it's a nice pink colour right now. disgusting.

So does anyone know if I just need a bulb, or it's part of a ballast issue as well?

That's tough to say, though I would think that if the bulb was gone, it would be completely out. If the ballast just isn't running enough juice, it could be under powering it causing the low output?
