Distilled water trick

Did the "Distilled water trick" aka Seafoam without the seafoam. Haven't done that in about 2 years and it seemed to take away the hesitation I had when I blipped the throttle. I'll be doing it a little more frequently from now on.

For those not in the know here are the steps for an m20.

1) Warm the engine thoroughly and keep running.
2) Take a cup of distilled water
3) Unplug the thin rubber hose that connects the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold (unplug the side that connects to the regulator, the hose is #8 on the image which is exactly where you unplug it)

4) slowly dip the hose into the cup of water, I like it to skim the surface of the water, not be fully immersed or you could hydrolock your engine.
5) let the engine suck up the water and watch the steam come out of the engine. Give it a few revs by reaching over to the throttle plate or have a helper lightly blip the throttle.
6) Replace hose and then go for a drive.
7) Enjoy!

This should help to remove carbon from the inside of the engine and you won't need any nasty chemicals that may harm your car.

Funny timing on this tip. I was JUST telling Ryan about the virtues of cold water shock tonight. I haven't done it for years, but it does work well.
