Who says Bronzite doesn't get pulled over?

So, after all my years of ticket free driving, my run has come to an end.

Driving Ryan's newly purchased 89 325i(Bronzite), home from Vancouver tonight, I decided to stretch her legs just a teeny tiny little bit! I was about 3 blocks from the shop, and I was curious to see how the Ireland Engineering exhaust sounded. Rolled the window down, turned the radio off, and "gave 'er the beans". Not super fast, just a good hard run through 2 gears, slow shift into 3rd, and coast. Pulled up to the light, made a right, and did it again.

Well well well, thats what I get for not adjusting the rear view mirror properly! I had NO idea there was a dark grey Crown Vic behind me, the entire time. DOH!

He lit me up, pulling into the parking lot. I shut the car off, put the window down, and got the papers ready. No bog deal, I earned it. Well, he puts on his "asshat", walks upto the car, and YELLS "Hands on the ******* steering wheel, NOW!!!". I give him a yes sir, and he walks closer. Next words "Why were you driving like such a ******* IDIOT!?".

I yes sir, no sir replied to him, handed over the papers, and explained that I was on a test drive, doing a shakedown for a customer. He looks at my DL, and asks if I knew it was "invalid"?. Shocked, I say no, and he tells me it's expired! He walks away.

Comes back to the car, quite calm now, realising I have a clean record, and I'm not a punk. He issues me no speeding tickets, but tells me I had doubled the speed limit in at least 2 occasions on the last block. Oops. He writes me up for $138, driving without a license. I tell him I will deal with it ASAP, and he keeps the damn thing!!!

I asked him how I was supposed to get another one, and he says "I don't know, I'd take the ticket, and another piece of ID in with me". Great.

I had absolutely NO idea my DL had expired on my Bday last month, ICBC never sent me a letter, and I seldom have occasion to look at my DL. Guess I'm going to the driver's center tomorrow.

Not all bad when you really look at it, but I was kinda pissed with his initial reaction/language upon walking up to the car. No need for that, IMO.

Been 5 years since I last got a ticket, I was WAY overdue!

LOL sorry to hear that Al. I would be one to argue the Bronzit never gets pulled over claim however. The VPD lazy squad have a hard on for the 88 and give me plenty of grief. Never the less I cant wait to get the hell out of this over hyped country and back home!

You know Liam, the whole time I was sitting there, waiting for the cop, I was thinking "Shit, Liam was right, Bronzite really DOES get pulled over!".

Funny thing is, once he was calm and pleasant, he commented on the sound of the car. He said "The car sounds very nice, but you have no need to drive it like that, in order to hear it, Mr. Larson!" And then he said "This is a VERY powerful, rear wheel drive vehicle, and it's starting to rain. You KNOW BETTER, than to drive like that, in these conditions". I agreed, admitted I was driving like an idiot, and took the ticket.

Sounds like the cop had a major adrenaline rush. Maybe he thought you were a druggie trying to get away from the cop car following him?

He probably drives a cirrusblau and wish he had a bronzite. He really pulled you over to check you out.

Leave the good coloured e30's out of this Linc!

Cars with roofracks don't get pulled over... And of course since I just said that I'm going to get nailed the first time I get the plow out when I get back.

If it had been me, I'd have had the car impounded and been given an excessive. Count yourself lucky.

I know a couple of officers in the Surrey RCMP detachment and would be curious to the officers name.

I just bit my lip, and said "Yes sir, I know I'm an idiot".

Funny thing is, I recognised him from a little incident about a month ago. Some crazed ******* in the Canadian Tire parking lot, flashed a gun at Andy and I, and started telling us he was gonna "bury you MFing white boys, right here....etc". We called him in, and the same cop who ticketed me last night, was the one who showed up that night. I reminded him of the incident, which is when he calmed WAY down. Not sure of his name though, I guess it would be on the ticket, eh?
