In the latest issue of Roundel, Mike Miller from tech talk in the Roundel BMWCCA magazine has requested emails (including name, city/state and town, anonymous emails will not be accepted), replying to the question “Would you buy a 2 series Coupe?” As I recall, the only reason the E36 M3 made it to America is because a bunch of CCAers wrote letters to BMW NA begging they send the car to the US. I feel this is something that MUST be done as the blau mit weiss is becoming alarmingly synonymous with the word YUPPIE. Look at the latest car mag comparos, Bimmers are no longer 1st nor 2nd. As the US is a huge market for BMW (more than half of E36 M cars were sold here), if you like the idea of a 2 series then BMW needs to know.
What Mike said,
“We’ve all read the tantalizing stories about the 2 series coupe- an E30 sized return to BMW’s sporting coupe routes, with no i-Drive and a price well under $30,000- set to come out in 2006. BMW of NA has nixed the 1 series four-door hatchback for the US market, and is considering how to treat the 2 series coupe. If you would buy this wonderful car, please e-mail Tech Talk; (techtalk@roundel.org) we will put your input in front of the right eyes at BMW. And if you would buy a four-cylinder turbocharged version instead of a six-cylinder, tell them that too! YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND TOWN: anonymous emails and those not setting forth city/town and state will be deleted, wasting both your time and ours.-MM”
I sent my email in already, as in the current lineup nothing appeals to me (E46 M3 is too pricey). Likely when I graduate a year and a half from now, assuming there is no 2 series

, I’ll be looking for that pristine E30 M3, but as they are terribly hard to find…. an E36 M3 would be a nice choice as well.
Please post this in other forums, if anyone is a member of S14.net, or roadfly; it doesn’t matter…. As enthusiasts we need to let BMW know that there is a market for such a car.
