Which BMW do you drive?

I want to welcome everyone to the new board. I set this up because I couldn't find a decent board like it online. Many BMW boards seem to cater mostly to the newer cars and the classics are given low priority. Well here the classics are #1.

This board is mainly for cars that were made pre-1992. These are the drivers cars that BMW is known for, no discussions here on how to roll your fenders to fit those 19" chromies.

So lets start by introducing yourself and telling us what kind of car you drive. As most probably know I drive an E30 M3, here is a picture of me on my morning commute

Anthony

I'm Ty and I've got a '91 318i. It's no M3, but I enjoy the challenge of keeping it as mint as possible for an everyday driver. I love it when passengers get in and ask me if it's a new car. Down the road I'd like to be in a clean, low miles, stock E30 M3.

What appeals to me about E30's is the challenge of keeping them in excellent condition. Whether an E30 is fully stock, or totally modified, I appreciate each one for the work that the owner has put into it. From '84 M10 318i's to 1991 M3 cabrios, I love them all!

I can't wait for this forum to be filled with people who feel the same way!

Hi All,

My car is a 1989 325iX. I am not into modifying the car as I think BMW did a darn good job to start with. Spending money for modifications that can only be verified on a dyno or putting more wheel/rubber on it than are of any practical advantage just doesn't interest me. Mine is an autobox; one of the finest I've ever driven; and the AWD takes it around corners like a go-kart on rails! With regular maintenance and a bit of luck, I intend to get well in excess of 400,000km from this ride.

This new site has the potential to carry on in the fashion of the original BMWE30.net; catering to the technically challenged by the technically informed while not appealing to the clutch dumping, rubber burning, transmission destroying, street racing Fast and Furious crowd

I like your attitude for keeping your car stock. I seriously want an iX as a second car, I would love to see what it could do on some slick roads.

That's my goal and why I set this site up, now we just need the membership.

Hi, My name is Alex and I'm a bimmer-holic. Our family owns a "fleet" of bimmers, though if you add up the value of all of them, you still can't buy a new bmw. We currently own an 81 320is (parts car), 82 320i, an 88 325ic, a 89 325i/2 and a 89 325 touring (only one in B.C. and probably one of only 6 in north america).

My baby is the 325i/2. It's Alpinewhite II and is currently running M3 springs, M3 rear sways, 16" Alpina's with Kumho 712's, and porterfield R4-S street/track brakes. I've upgraded the interior with the stock sport seats, OBC, and a Schroth harness. My car is my daily driver but also my track car, thus I'm trying to have a decent compromise of performance and civility.

Hey, I'm Craig - Recently bought my first BMW - an 88 635CSi. Having owned a Volvo, VW and Saab in the past, I am now a BMW convert! The car is unbelievably solid. I'm the third owner. Fortunately, the first two owners seemed to have taken really good care of the car - looks like it has the wear of a five year old car - not a 16 year old old-timer!

Anyway, having searched around the other bimmer boards, I totally agree that there is a need for one dedicated to the classics. Thanks for all your work putting this site together!

Craig. I think you will find the quality of your car is what makes the older BMWs so great. When properly taken care of it's hard to believe these cars have the age and milage on them. Welcome to the board and post some pics of your car when you get a chance.

Newbie Alert!!!

My name is Mark and I'm a "bimmerholic"...
I currently own a 1986 535i"s" that has over 300K (308 as of today) on the original motor!!
I have receipts in excess of 15K during my 6 years of ownership. I have done everything to the car except the motor.

I currently have a '91 M30B35 motor (104K) in my garage that will make it's way into the car later this year.

I track the car as often as possible. I'm also a 1/3 partner of a 1971 Porsche 914/6 track car.The "P" car is new to the fold and will be sorted out this season...

Greetings all... Great site btw.

I joined the bimmer family last year with a 90 325is. I was a 10 year vet of 5.0 Mustangs and wanted to try something more refined. Needless to say there is no going back now.

hey all
my name is stephan and i have recently aquired a 88 325ix and i am lovin it. it is my first car of my own and i find it alot better than my parents jetta. its got some 17 eagle rims wit yoko's wich handel like a dream in dry conditions and some 15" bwm honeycomb sytle. the handeling on this car is amazing. its got 270 km and its starting to show a few body problems and the engine needs some tlc. if any one has a 325ix that i could take a look at to compare that lives anywhere around surrey bc that would b great. im really stoked about this cite and all the locals that post.

Hey Stephan, welcome to the board.
Myself and a few others live in the Surrey/Langley/White Rock area.
Although there's not too many ix's on the board that I'm aware of, you'll find that even the i's have alot in common with your car (minus some drivetrain/body kit stuff).

You might want to take your car to CGMotorsports.com and have Chris check it over. With that high milage maintenance will be important. I bet that car would be a blast to drive in the snow! Slap on some Blizzaks and go blasting past all the SUV drivers.
