Post Lawyer Says BMW Made Him Speed

BMW 535xi
C. Akin Blitz is a lawyer in the Portland, Oregon, area, and when it comes to trying to get out of speeding tickets, he doesn't pull any punches. He was caught going 76 mph in a 55 mph zone and, rather than accept the $182 dollar ticket, he decided to fight the citation in court saying that his 2008 BMW 535xi was at fault, not him.

And this wasn't just a "the car made me do it" defense. Mr. Blitz created an in-depth PowerPoint presentation explaining how the handling characteristics of his BMW were so smooth and responsive that they made him not realize how fast he was going. And, to top it all off, he had his mechanic come into court and put him on the stand to give testimony. Not surprisingly, the Judge hearing the case said that he would not find a German automaker responsible for an Oregon speeding ticket and ordered Blitz to pay the charges.

I can not believe a lawyer would actually think he could win this argument. I guess you could say: "Only in USA!"
