Post BMW Settles Lawsuit

BMW E46 320i
BMW of North America has just settled a class action lawsuit over faulty subframes in their E46 3 Series models, which were produced between 1999 and 2006. The problem, as alleged by the plaintiffs, was that the subframe was poorly made, resulting in frequent cracks to the rear axle supports and sometimes full failure of the entire subframe assembly.

BMW has released a statement saying that any E46 owners or lessees should log on to e46subframeclassactionsettlement to see if they are eligible for free repairs to their vehicles. Those who have already paid for repairs may be able to be reimbursed for what they spent. BMW is quick to point out that this "is not a recall of any kind" and is only available to U.S. residents as that is the lawsuit's country of origin.
