Post BMW Named Most Innovative Automaker In Recent Survey

J.D. Power and Associates, along with Automotive News recently completed a comprehensive survey of North American auto parts suppliers to judge the automakers on five factors: "openness to ideas, trust, ease of working with the automaker, willingness of the carmaker to share financial rewards, and ability to implement innovations." The responses to these questions were then averaged together to give a set score out of 1000 to each automaker. BMW took the top spot with 716, beating out Toyota (692) and Honda (671), who were numbers two and three, respectively.

Rounding out the top five were Mercedes-Benz (630) in fourth and Ford in fifth (554). Ford experienced the biggest bump in rank since the last edition of this survey in 2007, thanks in large part to their recent implementation of new hybrid and engine technologies. Unsurprisingly, Chrysler and General Motors came at the bottom of the list, with Chrysler (449) just beating GM (445).
