New BMW M3 GT4 Heads To Nurburgring

Just a few weekends ago, BMW's Motorsport Division debuted their new E92 M3 GT4 racer as part of their Customer Racing product line. The car placed 30th overall, but did win its division. Congratulations and celebrations were short-lived, however, as the M3 GT4 is set to take on one of the toughest 24-hour endurance races in the world, the Nurburgring's Nordschleife, beginning on May 23rd.

While the M3 GT4 will be making its first trip to the Nurburgring in May, it won't actually be BMW that is fielding the car. The Schubert Racing team, in conjunction with Dunlop tires, will be sponsoring the car for the race. Behind the wheel, though, will be two experienced BMW racing drivers, Augusto Farfus of Brazil and Jörg Müller of Denmark. The pair normally race for BMW in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, but they will be teaming with two automotive journalists from the German publication Sport Auto to tackle the 24-hour endurance race.

In the 39 years that the Nordschleife endurance race has been held at the Nurburgring, BMW has taken how an incredible total of 114 class wins and 8 overall wins, and one-third of the finishing cars in last years race were made by BMW. Considering that impressive pedigree, one would certainly expect a lot out of the E92 M3 GT4.
