Post BMW In The Year 2025

The Salt Flat Racer
At last year's Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW entered a futuristic racer design into a design challenge that would envision the cars of the year 2025. The results were, well, futuristic, and also featured some odd design decisions, and the MINI Space team (a group of innovative engineers that deal primarily in concept vehicles and new technologies) have given a bit of explanation about the car. For example, the German automaker's design team had two goldfish living in a fuel reserve at the rear of the vehicle, which symbolized that, by the year 2025, methods of fueling automobiles would be so clean and eco-friendly that you could literally have an aquarium for a gas tank.

The envisioned vehicle, which was called the Salt Flat Racer, would also be constructed out of used oil drums and trash barrels. This was supposed to exhibit how cars of the future would be made entirely out of recycled materials. While looking at the car may make one think that there is some guy at BMW who isn't the sharpest crayon in the box, think again; the design was the combined efforts of 145 of BMW's top engineers.

Salt Flat Racer
The Salt Flat Racer is definitely out there, but it does raise a few thoughts about just how the auto industry will be able to incorporate recycled materials and new propulsion systems into their cars. Also, it looks pretty cool. Check out the concepts gallery for more of the German automaker's futuristic ideas.

Not sure what the fish thought about this concept. Add to this the fact that they might become a part of the combustion chamber, that is if the car runs out of fuel ? I mean water ?? If cars run on water will the price of water hit a buck a litter ?

When writing about cars, it is not too often that I can make references to crayons, so I must make sure to maximize every opportunity.

As to the goldfish, maybe that's all part of BMW's plan for alternate fuels. Has anybody thoroughly researched the combustion properties of goldfish? A bit morbid, but you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs...

I hear you, hard to use crayons, never mind sharp ones

Is it just me or does that car look like a V2 rocket
