Post BimmerClassics.net is Now BimmerClassics.com!

Yes, it's true! As our site logo and website url now reflects, BimmerClassics.net has now become BimmerClassics.com. Thanks to the efforts of our tech support team the transition went very smooth with only a few minor issues cropping up which were taken care of in short order.

While our official website name is now BimmerClassics.com, the .net url extension should still work fine for all existing links and bookmarks to our site. If anyone has noticed any issues or problems please take a minute to let us know so we can work on getting it resolved immediately.

And for the question many of you are wondering, why the switch to .com?

Well, why not! BimmerClassics is one of the longest standing, oldest and well established BMW websites on the web. Having recently acquired the .com extension, we felt it was only fitting and well deserved that our BMW community use and be recognized under it's new premium .com name so why not. A special thanks to Mirek, one of our longest standing members, for making it possible for us to acquire BimmerClassics.com and without his help and support, none of this would have been possible!

In addition to our new website name, other recent changes include the addition of new BMW Series specific forums which will help us better organise our forums so they are easier for everyone to navigate and find the types of discussions you're looking for. If you have an idea for a new forum or sub-category, please pass it along. We are all ears!

You may have also noticed other improvements throughout our site including our BMW Pictures Gallery. Dave (Blackice) and Sean (s_a_c have been hard at work reorganizing, adding new pictures, new sub-categories and gallery descriptions, all for your viewing pleasure. A special thanks to both of these guys for all of their efforts to improving the vehicular eye candy (and hot babes) in our gallery!

As for what else is in the pipe you can all look forward to. We are working on adding two new sections to our site in the very near future. One being a new BMW History section which will trace not only the history of BMW as a company, but also the history of all BMW car models, from the original Dixi up to and including current models. The second being a new BMW Manuals section where you will be able to view and print manuals online. I've seen a few of them, and it's pretty cool. The best part is you don't have to scroll through page upon page to find what you want because there is a handy chapters section built right in. Just one click to go from the alignment's caster and camber settings to finding out the torque specs on an intake manifold!

That's it for now, but as always we want to hear what you think, so please take a minute to post a reply and let us know.

-Josh

Hey Shocka,

The answer as to whether or not this is a useful post is a bit complicated. The post initially went up a few days after the transition and we wanted to make sure that we recognized the work of Blackice, s_a_c, and Mirek, who really went above and beyond the call of duty for making the change a reality and getting the galleries in order.

As for the email newsletter where you may have read it, yes, that is a bit old. We're putting together that newsletter so we can keep members informed about what's going on, and the .com switch seemed like a good place to start. As we work out the kinks, the time difference between the two should be marginal.

Whew... bit of a long answer but there it is.
