Blackice's pictures | Malaysian F1 Malaysian F1 Pit stop management at Sepang, proved crucial. As changing conditions made tire selection almost imposable. The race eventually called, due to rain. "wow what a crazy race" said Button about the Malaysian F1.Taking his second F1 race of the season, Brawn GP team looks very strong.... "Yeah really bad conditions....." " My team did a fantastic job" " just keep it on the track, they kept saying to me..." Stats say that a driver that wins the first 2 races of the season moves on to win the world title. But one interesting point to note, the last 2 F1 events were finished behind the safety car ! Nic grabs a 2nd ! Well done Nic BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld said "Yes I think it was a difficult race" He was on intermediates that were done, by the time the rain came.. " Impossible to drive in that amount of rain'... So it was the right decision..." To call the race. Timo Glock and Toyota are looking very solid this season grabbing a 3rd place, this puts them 2nd in the constructors standings as well. "One of the best race I could do" Said Toyota's Timo Glock. Problems with traction, was Toyota's biggest struggle. But that didn't seem to slow there pace, The Toyota was looking very strong and Timo is driving like a man possessed! I think we will see some great battles this year, BMW, Toyota, and Braun GP, are looking fast! Will the others find the pace ? |

Mr. Red's pictures | This is the first F1 race I actually followed..it was great! having food poisioning from sushi (don't go to Capilano Sushi) has one benefit I guess. I was thoroughly entertained and loved watching how the different teams dealt with the incoming rain. The race is won by the manager of the pits as much as the driver sometimes. |

| Member | didnt get to see much of the race (unless you call 20 seconds 'much'!) heard that Mr Button won again. Not bad, going from no wins from however many starts to winning the opening 2 rounds of 2009... if only this could happen to Mark Webber now!!! as for the 2 safety car finishes, i must be pedantic and say that the Australia race did not finish under the safety car. it headed for the pits and the cars had to round the last corner and cross the finish line under race conditions. Interseting to see that the last couple of world champs arent coping to well with the new changes. Bring on Shanghai |

The top teams from last year look a bit off the pace this season. Did you see that Massa didn't make Q1 cut. | |

| Senior Member | I woke up at 2:00 AM for it. Hi, The race would have been better had Bernie listened to the locals and had it an hour earlier. Glad I didn't spend the cash to fly to Malaysia for half a race. I was really hoping Rob K would kick some butt this year, but it looks like until they rule the new difusers (sp?) illegal and strip all of Brawn GP's points and award them to McLaren and Ferrari, BMW is going to have to "luck" their way to the podium. Love the sport, not too sure of FIA or Bernie. Actually I am, go kick both in the nuts for me. Craig,

Blackice's pictures | Saw this on F1.net and thought it was a great read on the rear diffuser. So looks like they did there home work well to me. The controversy over Toyota, Williams and Brawn GP’s rear diffuser arrangements is dragging on and is unlikely to be settled until the first race on 29 March, Forumula1.net understands. The three teams have innovative designs for their rear diffusers, which rival teams accuse of breaching the maximum height allowed for the structure. But the legality or otherwise of the design will not be confirmed until Melbourne, when the first official protest may be lodged by other teams. Renault boss Flavio Briatore has been outspoken in his criticism of the three teams’ arrangements, and has bemoaned the fact that the designs have not yet been declared illegal. “It seems that there are two rules: one that allows some teams to mount a diffuser in a certain way while for the others it is considered illegal,” the Italian is quoted as saying by Reuters. “It is not what we expected. We want black and white rules for everybody.” The cause of Briatore’s anger is the tentative green light the FIA have given to Williams and Toyota. FIA President Max Mosley said in February that the rear diffusers on the new Toyota and Williams were innovative and did not break the rules. The race stewards in Melbourne will have to adjudicate, however, if a protest is lodged. Brawn’s design is said to take the others’ interpretation further, with the result radically improved rear downforce. Williams in particular are being secretive about the design, for fear that others will copy it. Despite McLaren’s ‘Spygate’ controversy in 2007, teams spy on each other and routinely copy visible aerodynamic features. Yesterday at Jerez, Forumula1.net witnessed the Williams team throwing a cover over their car’s rear end when it pitted. |
