You don't see the logic, if every1 disputed their tickets the courts would become more back logged than they already are, as some1 already stated, He had 1 of his tickets dismissed because of the lengthy time period. Also I would rather defer my payment for as long as possible, get in my say, ask for a reduction of the fine, maybe get off if the cop doesn't show. If you wish to save ur 25 bucks and pay ur ticket hooray for you, I just happen to disagree with you.

Or how about when you are parked on the side of the road and a cop pulls up behind you and accuses you of doing 100km/h, did I mention I was PARKED! Disputed that one too and won!

Bottom line is, if you obey the traffic laws you don't even have to meet the ******* policman
That's the biggest load of BS I've read on this site yet. Maybe in fantasy world all the police are find upstanding citizens but I've hung around enough cops to know that in the real world that isn't even close to being true.

Here's another good 1 4 u, I was passing a vehicle on a 2 lane highway, posted limit was 100kmh, cop was on the other side of the road at a gas station, when I went by doing 130kmh, he promptly clocked me and ticketed me for excessive speed, $500.00. My question is this how fast would you like me to overtake on a 2 lane highway, perhaps 101kmh, stay in the oncoming lane for a head on collision, much safer!!! and Hey I wouldn't be speeding, kill some1, no big deal, just don't speed. I asked him how fast I was allowed to go to overtake, he wouldn't answer me. diputed the ticket and won, and by the way that was outside Kamloop's 15 years ago!! my last ticket.

The passing lane is meant for passing vehicles going LESS THAN the posted speed limit, such as large slow moving trucks. And you pass them at the maximum speed limit.

The passing lane is not an excuse for you to get ahead of someone going the limit.

4 UR info the guy wasn't doing the speed limit, in corners he was slowing down to well under the limit, on the straight stretches he would speed up, backing up traffic, lots of people tailgating one another, guess its better to be involved in a pile up because the azz with the motorhome won't pull over, and let people by, heaven forbid he gets a ticket for obstructing the flow of traffic. Also when I disputed the ticket the judge agreed with me, and did not consider 130kmh while overtaking on a two lane highway excessive speed . just my opinion and the judge agreed.

Court date Friday for something that happened... October 2007? So 14 months?
Yup.
And I haven't had it rescheduled either!

I sure don't know why anybody would want to be a policeman nowadays. Their daily routine is dealing with either the dregs of society or people who one day will be good citizens...they just have to have time to mature. And no matter what they do to enforce the laws, there is always someone who will complain about getting a spanking.
They too are fed up with the delays in our court system and bringing offenders to justice.
Not to mention the lacs in punishments handed out.
I would bet a nickel that 99% of those who are caught with a traffic infraction say they are innocent. Man, why not just say I pushed the envelope, or I tried to cheat and got caught. I was wrong...sorry.

What message do you want to teach your kids?

We all sometimes make mistakes, sometimes it is right to dispute. One time, I got a ticket going up Knight Street right after the bridge. Cop was headed in the other direction and I knew right away I was hosed. Paid for the ticket next day. I was wrong and admitted it. Was cleaning up my room a couple months later and read the ticket. Cop wrote down that I was doing 185km/h. 185? Going uphill? in a 1981 e21? Gimme a focking break.

I've gotten one ticket and paid it. I don't think it's worth the time to dispute, unless you're sure that you've been wrongfully fined.

There are valid arguments on both sides of this dispute. But if you're innocent, dispute it for sure, if not, be a man and pay up.

As for all the "fockheads" on the roads today talking on their cellphones drinking a latte and changing the channel on the radio all at the same time, we all would like to get them off the road and give 'em a beating.....they are accidents waiting to happen! Vigilanty justice is one step away from anarchy which doesn't serve anyone. So, enter the cops who try to keep a lid on things.....I wouldn't want their jobs for anything!!!!

Yeah, I definitely feel the same way.. Man up and pay for your ticket if you earned it. Don't try to get out of it, especially if the cop was doing his job to keep others around you safe.

However, on the same note, What if the cop was just trying to be a dick? Maybe you didn't do anything wrong-- in that case by all means, dispute it! Just be sure you are right in doing so.

I would pay my ticket if I thought the penalty was justified. Thats the point, I dont think its justified, the price severely out weighs the infraction. Also if the laws in any way made sense, I would support them, but they dont. speed limits have stayed the same in this country for the past 50 years. Automobile technology has far outstripped the speed limits, cars handle better, stopping distances etc are far shorter, the only thing that has not improved are the people driving them. You can buy your license in Richmond. and driver training is so poor its incomprehensible, its like the blind leading the blind, I have seen "driving school instructors" with their students, dawdaling along in the left hand lane jurying rushour traffic, everyone and I mean everyone is changing lanes and passing them on the right. Absolutely no common sense or courtesy. Further evidence is the recent fatal accident where 2 youg children died on the transcanda highway 1 in Vancouver. The media is all over the driver who hit them, but ever ask yourself who in their rite mind would ever stop in the left hand lane of a highway? evidently the van had filled with smoke, pictures of the van showed all the windows were rolled up. Dont know about anyone else out there but if my vehicle lost power caught on fire or whatever catastrophy was occuring, my top priority would to get my vehcile off the highway onto the rite hand shoulder or completely off the road if possible. The driver of the van that got hit stopped in the left lane in the middle of the buissiest highway in Vancouver, as far as i am concerned she is at least half way to blame. I know all kinds of people are going to say this is an HOV lane etc but the fact remains you cant stop in the middle of a busy highway, HOV or not.

I'm totally with you on this one.

If you're travelling on the Hwy. and a mechanical emergency occurs, you have to get out of the way. Hell, even if the motor stops running you always have enough momentum to pull over......you don't stop in the middle of the road.

The incident you are referring to is horribly tragic, and stupidity is partly to blame which makes it even more tragic. I can't imagine the grief that family must be feeling for their loss.
