If I had a crystal ball I would see Blake purchasing some Euro goodies for the 6er in the future.........

Those Euro bumpers are VERY nice......

and a 5 speed conversion, and a JC or Mark D. chip.........

I've never been in a e36 or Z or X that had as many trim rattles as a Mk4. None of them play Lacaracha either...

True that. Nothing serious enough that can't be fixed with half a dozen fold up business cards...

ahhh....that's still pretty bad isn't it? My MKIV let me down more on the electrical side though. New coilpacks up the ying yang.

You can't even say Mk4 and E36 in the same sentence! Even though the E36 is an older platform, it is twice the car. Newer VW's are complete, total, and utter garbage. Wouldn't wish one on anyone.

I am just saying, you can't judge a car based on it's place of assembly. I agree, a MKIV is not the same amount of car as an E36, but it's lesser not because it was made in Pueblo Mexico. VW has control of it's plants' quality output anywhere in the world. FYI, a MY2000 German made 1.8T had just the same rattle issues as a MY2001 Mexican made one, the windows drop just often, and the heated seats all burn up, if not worse. The problem is VW, not the plant.

So, to close circle, I made the comparison to US made E36s to illustrate that a VW, like a BMW, is no more or less german whether, Bob, Pablo or Wolfgang puts it together.

Did you know all RHD Mercedes S-klasse are put together in South Africa, and all G-klasse and 4matic E-klasse are made in Austria?

Sorry, people, but when I buy a "German" car, at the bare minimum, I want it built in Germany, not in Mexico, Brazil, Kuala Lumpur, or some other godforsaken place. That's why I own an old German car, one that predates the era of multinational car companies which produce crap and put a badge on it that is supposed to confuse the consumer into thinking that that's where the car came from.

On that topic, has anyone recently gone into a show room and looked at the build quality of the latest 5er? I was there one afternoon tryig to showboat my heritage E30 , but I was thoroughly discouraged by the lack of quality in the 5! Accords have better fitment and tighter buttons than it.

That's Alex Shipkov's car? Great pic! Both e30s look very nice, especially the 285 series tires on the race car.
