Angry 6 series 5 speed swap problems.

As you guys know im doing a 5 speed swap on my 6er. brand new everything but the tranny itself. bushings, bolts, linkage etc. the auto all came out in a eavning or two with a buddy, very stright forward and easy. well, after about 2 weeks of my spare time (im renovating my new house at the same time) i finaly got the whole car back together. i blew up 2 clutch slave cylinders in about a hours time one night,
BE VERY CARFUL WHEN USING A POWER BRAKE/CLUTCH BLEADER! LOL
anyways it wont start. it turns over but it dosent fire up. i jumpered the nuteral safty switch pins coming from the 8 pin harness into the old auto shifter. but i still get a transmission error/warning light on the dash when i try and start. i have no spark or anything. when i took the auto out i took two sensons out from the auto tranny bellhousing and theres no where on the new manual bellhousing to put them, the mount looks the same but theres no holes drilled in it to put them in. my book seems to say they are the posision sensor and a speed sensor. is that somthing thats causing my issue? is it somthing else? am i hopelesly without a 5 speed 6 series forever???? any help would be apreceated.

here is a picture of the sensor ends that go into the bellhousing

thanks,
mike.

You have the wrong transmission.

You need one with the spots for those two sensors. The car will not run without those two sensors.

I think that in 1988 the sensor would be the 60-2 toothed wheel on the front of the engine. And this goes with the more modern Motronic computer.

I'm sorry to say that you've got a tough decision to make. Either find another (older) transmission or upgrade to the newer electronics. It makes more sense to get the different transmission.

Thats a bummer! I don't have a spare gearbox, but you can always drill the holes, as Riley mentioned. You'll need to drill for the sensors, and then drill and tap the 6mm holes for the bolts that hold them. It can be done!

yeah that what im gonna do. im pulling out the tranny and flywheel tonight and taking them to a machine shop guy i know that can drill and tap the raquired holes and line up the sensors with the old ring gear so the timing marks match on the new flywheel, should be the easiest and the cheapest.
