Blakeoffire's pictures | Lowering Springs for the 6er....? Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a set of Lowering Springs for the 635 but I'm slightly stumped as to which brand I should focus on for outstanding quality, feel and feedback. The most popular choices appear to be Eibach, Vogtland and H&R. Has anyone ever heard either good or bad reports with any of these options? They all seem to be comparatively priced too... (I have brand new Bilsteins up front if that matters at all) I'm looking to drop just the front of the car down that 1.25" along with installing a Racing Dynamics strut bar to firm up the front-end and lessen the roll (not to mention, a welcomed, subtle decrease in the fender-gap). The rear self-levelling system is still working perfectly fine so there's no reason to muck about with that by replacing it with a conventional set-up either. I've seen various 6's with this set-up where just the front has received Lowering Springs and apparently the results are excellent. Any help/info/advice is greatly appreciated...! B. |

| Banned | Blake, I've had experience with Eibach springs in E28/24, and not been terribly pleased. Ride and handling was excellent, but in the E24, it retained a very nose high attitude. So much, that I called my Eibach guy to ask if he sent me the wrong springs. He sent the right ones, they just sat very high. If I still had the car, I think I would have clipped a coil or 2 off them by now. My opinion? I've NEVER had a problem with H&R, and will be installing them in my 323i. Actually, I already have them in the 323i. Al |

Blakeoffire's pictures | Awesome... thanks for your input Al .... I had been leaning towards the H&R but knew absolutely zip about the Vogtlands and Eibachs on the E24. I also have H&R's on my 318is and they're great too. B. |

When I think of the Vogtland springs, I always have images of VW's. I'm sure thats a false image, and makes no real sense, but I doubt they stand in the same league as an H&R. No problem for the input. Just remember who gave it to you, when you need them installed Al | |

| newbie | I actually went with Eibach Pro Kit this spring and am pretty pleased with the ride height and look. I made the mistake of using Bilstein HD's, though, and they are not well matched. So I bought Bilstein Sports for the rear and left the HD's on the front and it's not too bad. Actually, it's just fine, but there is one niggling problem...that kind of drives me nuts. Going slow on bumpy roads (in town on a bad road, for instance) you can hit bumps at just the right speed and the rear end bounces. It's only if you hit them at certain speeds - but it's like it's too springy in the back. That said, I just put a set of Eibach's on my 01 325i and am very pleased. Tight ride, but smooth. No bouncing in the rear. Had I to do it over again, would I go with Eibach's? I'm not sure. My guess is they are all going to do sort of the same thing. My advice is to make sure you have the correct struts/shocks. Bilstein Sports, not HD's, or some other sport (i.e. shorter travel) brand. One other thing - I found Eibach's engineers to be very helpful and very conserned. I called them and spoke with an engineer there and he took a lot of time with me. If you're interested in pictures, let me know and I can post some. Mark. |
