| newbie | Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm thinking of replacing the rocker panels on my 88 535is and could use any info on best supplier of parts and also any help from someone who has tackled this project. Thanks Terry Last edited by ScottHalliday; 06-29-2009 at 11:18 PM.. Reason: to help terry with post placement |

ScottHalliday's pictures | Hi Terry, You might find this rocker panel retrofit article some help. To track down the BMW part number and estimated price go to RealOEM. As for sourcing, you could start by taking a look at B&I Trim Product replacement rocker panels. Hope this is a help and be sure to keep us posted on what you decide. Cheers, Scott |

| newbie | Thanks Scott I'll check RealOEM for cost. After looking at the article you linked to me I see they are not called rocker panels. I'll do some more searching. I'd like to hear from someone who has done this job already to know what I'm up against. I'll let you know what I decide to do. Terry |

Poon's pictures | Why do you want to replace your rocker panels? Are they rusted, or do you just want to ad a side skirt for a new look? In all honesty, if it's rusted it's not worth fixing. It would be far cheaper to find a rust free example to start fresh from than try and fix something that is deteriorating. Also, if the rocker panel is rusted , you can be sure there is bad rust elsewhere as well. -Andrew Poon

| newbie | Hi Andrew The rockers are rusted at the front jacking points. The drivers floor also has a softball sized hole in that area as well. I've changed the rear trunk panel and trunk supports a few years ago so the rest of the body is good at this point in time. I know rust never sleeps and thats what is making me hesitate to start this project. Terry |

| Member | I think you should go to the dealer shop and clarify your doubts.
