| Senior Member | e28 with TRX still on it!!!! - help me confirm replacement wheels/tires. Hi All, An E28 that time forgot has recently fallen into my hands (I may be cursed). It still has TRX wheels and REALLY OLD TRX tires on it. Would any BMW 5x120 16X7 or 16X7.5 ET20 wheel fit? If so I should be able to get a set of mesh style from an old 530, 540 or something right? If anyone has any preferably with tires, msg me. Craig,

| Senior Member | I'll confirm the "yes." The E34 wheels are an especially good fit - no spacers or hubcentric rings required.

Not any BMW 5x120 wheel will fit. You should check out MyE28.com if you haven't already. On MyE28.com some one has made a handy Wheel and Tire tutorial for E28's

| Senior Member | Hi, I had checked out the mye28 site. There are so many newer BMW wheels he's missing though. I was looking for something like this in a similar price range. I don't really care about the style as it's the wifes car. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pts/738115054.html Craig,

E39 74.1mm bore i think, the rest of the bmws are 72.4. Or something close to that. |

| Senior Member | She's been suffering through driving a '74 2002 for years, and the E30, this will be pure luxury for her. ![]() She loves driving the '02 but it's a little small for our family hauling needs. The E30 is going to be a track car, and is starting to lack certain ammenities like, a/c, carpets, sound proofing, the usual ![]() Craig,

These are style 33 with an et 20, often called turbines. I think they look great on any 5 series. When you get the hub centering rings go for the metal type, I have heard that the plastic rings have "give" in them and don't do the job properly. |

| Senior Member | The metal ones are easily crushed though because they are so F@#$ing thin. Ask me how I know. I have three spares now though. I think the fact that they are so thin is going to give issues no matter which one you use, plastic or metal. I would think plastic would at least hold its shape better. I have often thought about taking the wheels to a machine shop and making the bore bigger and having thicker rings made. Do you see any issues with that? I am only talking 3-5mm. That should be enough for a strong ring with a tight fit. |

| Senior Member | Ok, I'm new to the 5 bolt world (first grown up car ;-) I should have some cash together by mid month (it was an unexpected purchase) for the wheels so if you see any and think of me, lemme know. I'll take pictures of the tires of doom that are on there now when I pick the car up on Monday. I think they were metal studed on the front but worn down to silver dots.

whataboykie's pictures | Stick with the hub centering rings as the best deal and go for the style 33's.
