Should I buy this US 1992 525i 5spd ?

US '1992 525i 5spd 160k miles, black/tan, luxury package. new tires, brakes, windshield, and front suspension. Spun into guard rail, needs new bumper covers, 2 lights, and some trim. $1200 USD. The quote for repair was $3500, but I think I can do it for about $2000 or possibly less.

From research, I've found that a good examply can be had for as low as $5k, and as high as $9k... so I'm thinking I could squeak away with one for $3500 and be ahead of the game. Any thoughts? Anyone know of some serious problems these cars had?

Guess it depends on the condition of the car, and what the repair involves? $3500 is pretty cheap if you can get yourself a clean E34 in good mechanical condition.

$3500 US remember... it's not THAT cheap - it will be a 14yr old 160k mile rebuilt car. However, the repairs seem pretty basic, nothing we haven't tackled before; nothing integral is banged up. All the same, I bailed on the opportunity but now my dad is carrying the torch, I guess he thinks he wants it. We'll see...

My dad bought it yesterday... we'll see how this works out.
