Aside from the usual items to check out from a 20 year car, testing the AWD system is most important, much know as the "jack test", video below shows one of the IX has a burned VC, the other 2 are fiine.

interms of parts, most body parts of an ix is same as other e30 with some exceptions. Engines block is different and obviously the drive line, suspension and brakes are also different as well.

Is the one you will be looking a 5sp?

Gook luck on the hunt.

WOW!

Nice tool to test the AWD portion. I don't have that luxury though. But I guess I will see. The car parks just down from where I work and there is no online ad that I can show you just a sign in the window. It's gold and the euro style front air dam(stock?) and lookslike it has BBS rims similar to the ones shown in your vid. Was that vid made for a claim against the tow company? If so "that there sun is some by gumbo haaaaard eeeevidence!"

Engine is the same as reg 325i. Came stock with fender flares, side skirts and 15" bbs basketweave rims with special offset for IX. ABS has a different program specific to the IX I believe. Most of the front suspension bits are different. Good year to buy is the 88 came with sport interior. Manuals are very rare up her in Canada. Front transfer case is EXPENSIVE to fix if not working.

These cars are amazing in the snow. I could dust any 4x4 off the line in deep snow. I drove through all the major snow falls last year, including going to Merrit when they stopped plowing the Coq and closed the road just behind me, running all season cheap BF Goodrich tires.

Hey the car has disappeared! I looked while I was on my break from work, and it wasn't there. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked? Damn I wanted test drive that puppy! Oh thanks for all the info now I know what to look for, when I go to check the ix out. Thank you's again for all who helped me out.
