Have you done any modifications to the engine or is your 325i all original?

I have no idea why you would need the original stereo serial number to reset your on-board computer. I am no expert by a long shot but this is the first I ever heard of this and have no idea why it would be required.

To do a simple computer "reset", I think all is required is for you to remove battery terminals for 10 minutes then reconnect. The on-board computer will then reset according to what it reads from the cars sensors. If you have not done this yet, give it a try. No cost and easy to do.

If you are still having a problem after that, post back whether it make any difference or whether you are getting the exact same readings from the computer.
