| newbie | Approx. pricing on maintenance, repairs and vehicles in Vancouver? Hi all, I am thinking of getting an 89-91 E30 (ideally 325i/is) in 6 months to a year or so, just wanting to do some research into them. Sorry for the n00b questions, as I am sure they are readily available over the internet, but since this seems to be more local to the GVRD, this may give more accurate info. How much are these to maintain and do repairs on? Say, for a timing belt/water pump job as a reference (on my current driver, a Miata it was about $300 for parts and $340 for labour). Who are the major reputable mechanics for them? From reading, I read CG Autoworks, Nixon Automotive, and a Euro shop in Surrey. My friend also mentioned Richmond Auto Works on Bridgeport? What's the typical per hour labour rate (local miata shops are ~$90/hr)? On craigslist, the market seems to be around $2000 to $6000 for these cars, with mileage in the high 100k's/low 200k's. Does this sound about right? Just to get an idea so I don't pass up a crazy deal I may come across (like BlackIce's $1500 318is!) Thanks all, look forward to wasting time on this forum in the coming months! |

Blackice's pictures | I have heard good things about all of those guys, I personally wrench as much as I can, and leave the rest to the Beetle Spa in North Vancouver, they are fair with there labour rate, and will work to book time. Can't help you with the timing belt price, since M42's don't use them. ![]() |

| Senior Member | id say repair costs would be very comparable to a miata, but you wouldnt have to deal with all the gayness and strange looks associated with miata's. Euro shop is great in surrey, bmv in richmond is good for parts but as far as i know parts is all they do. |

Poon's pictures | The guys over at The Euro Shop in surrey are fantastic to deal with. They do great work, and are very reasonably priced. Just had a vented brake upgrade and overhaul done to my E21. They're the only guys I trust to work on any of my BMW's. -Andrew Poon

| Member | CG, Nixon's, EuroShop, AutoWest, BimmerHaus this is the order according to what i can tell from what you guys think of the best places to take your ride into when youre in over your head. i took mine to one of them last year and i got it all sorted out in the end but the initial experience still has me shaking my head wondering "what if" had i just not said anything and settled the bill. anybody have time to meet up for coffee so i can show them my bills and unload on my experience? i dont wanna upload it and risk draggin their good name through the mud on this forum w/o an expert 2nd opinon. for the record... i dont see him anymore nor have i gone to see any of the other 4. if i tell you the guy i go to now (or my second, third & fourth pics), you guys will either rofl or think im ![]() Last edited by kungfucious0_0; 07-07-2009 at 03:39 AM..
