Over heating problem!

hey guys, i have a 1988 325i and it has started to over heat, i have no leaks becuase i just fixed them all, do you think it could be the thermostat? my car over heats and all my fluids come out of the over flow hose. sugesstions?

I think the t-stat is a good place to start.what kind of shape is your rad in,has there been any stop leak added at any time,that stuff can block up an older rad real quick.

the rad was replaced after a front end accident, as far as i know there are not leak from it and not stop leak has been added.

I would go ahead w/ t-stat and bleeding thoroughly,this cooling design is like the vw set-up and can be a pain to properly bleed,gl

One thing to check on any vehicle to know if it is the thermostat is to while running the engine check to see if the lower hose is cold or warm. If coolant is running it will get warm but cooler than the top hose. If it stays cold then it's your thermostat. having said that to check to make sure coolant is actually flowing check to see if you get heat inside the car. If you do not get heat then it could be the water pump has failed. I just had my pump fail so I know that one personally.

yeah, i had heat, i changed my t stat the other day and now it back to normal,
thanks for the advice though, ill keep that in mind for future use
