How about swapping the old chromies to plastic bumpers?

Hey everyone im new to the site, i was wondering though how difficult it is to fab on the newer e30 plastic bumpers over the old diving boards? i have an 86 325e and ive already tucked the bumpers, but i want the "is" bumpers instead. are they a direct swap or does it take alot of work? thanks please help!

its a ton of work on an 86.. search Janderson on r3v his car is an 86 but hes fabbed plastics on it.

yes ive seen his car before, i believe its the white one. the other part of it i was wondering was the 87' 325is, i know it has the metal bumpers but it has the lower spoiler with the fog lights, basically what im looking for is the lower part, would that work?

there is a pretty good how-to on strictlyeta w/ pictures.i plan on doing this too and this site seems quite detailed.gl
