Lithium's pictures | E 30 spring rates?? (Input please) Hey E30 Heads - I just picked up a coilover kit from Tyson. The kit contains Eibach springs & Koni Yellow adjustables for an E30-325 touring. I am putting the kit into a E30-318i (1991 - M42 - Sedan) I have installed the front kit including 450LBS springs. Ride is a bit rough but I plan on tracking the car so I am totally Ok with it. I am planning on installing the rear in a week. Here is where I am concerned. The rear springs are 850LBS (YUP) - I think they will be WAY too stiff. from what I read + my gut feeling (online / Hee Hee) I think I should be using between 450 / 550 LBS springs. Does anyone have any real expierince with E-30 spring rates that might help me choose a rear spring rate to match the 450LBS front. Thanks > Tim. ![]()

| Senior Member | 650lbs is the usual and 450/650 is the most common setup.. if your heavily into track the popular set up is like ~8xx/~1xxx+.

| Senior Member | I have called the guys at Eibach before and there tech service is very good at telling you what you have i.e. rates for 325 versus 318. They are not very good about giving you an opinion. When I checked out rates for my 318 vert, the difference between 325 and 318 was only the front. The back spring rates were the same for both verts. I expect you will find the same with the hard tops. From what I can tell there is only about 100 lbs diffference in the front end weights between 318s and 325s. |
