1984 318i hard to start

recently bought a 84 318i (manual) and have been having some hot days down here (45 deg C on tuesday) and my car has been hard to start after its been sitting out side in the sun. takes bout 10sec of crankin it over b4 it fires. once it starts it runs fine.
in the mornings it normally starts fine, but never 1st shot.
have changed plugs (bp5es), oil etc and cleaned out dizzy cap.
also every now and then the speedo will drop out and read nothing or will read about 20ks lower then what it should be.
has done just over 200,xxxks and only engine mods is a exhaust.
any ideas would b great

hello if i where you i would check in your gas filter if there is stil petrol in the filter if not you gas runs back o your tank because a leek in the petrol suplley
