| newbie | yea man the 325. glad to hear about your progress with the car like the others were saying let the computer re work it's self out. if the problem keeps occurring then check for any vacuum leaks and or the idle air control might b dead un likely, just a thought. did you unplug the ecu? |

On this car I am totally ignorant. I have not unplugged the ECU but the battery had been disconnected for almost a year. I have had it running for a couple of days and yesterday took it from my shop to my house and back (about 7 miles) and it seems to run good. When I came to a stop it would drop in idle for a few seconds and then come back up. The owner has it straight piped and it makes the pipes crack at about 2k rpm, not cool in town. I will check for vacuum leaks but any vac lines that were in questionable shape did get replaced. Will the guages start to work when the computer re-learns? ![]() Mike | |

| newbie | Sounds like you have a vaccuum leak. Get some Quick Start and spray a little at a time in different areas of the engine. The revs will rise when you hit the vaccuum leak. I just did the head gasket on my E30 and had the same problem, traced it to a big crack in intake boot. As for the dead gauges http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech..._batteries.htm |

Babbitmike's pictures | After starting and running it a few times it has smoothed out. I found 1 blown fuse #10 and the fuel and temp gauges are working again. I got some input from a high end Euro tech friend of mine that I had completely forgotten. I have some photos of the car while it was in transition... Just after coupling up trans and mounts. ![]() Readjusting the valves, neat little adjusters. ![]() After she is all put togather and ready to go... ![]() Mike Last edited by Babbitmike; 11-25-2008 at 03:30 PM.. Babbitmike's pictures | I would like to thank one and all for input on getting this car running! I delivered the car to the owner today and he is very happy with it. I will remain on this site and if there is anything that I can do as far as general engine input I will do what I can to help out. Thanx again! Mike |
